[Being observant as he is has that effect on people, and coming up with the right words to throw them off was just a side-effect of it all. Just like him, though he'd never admit it, all it took was the right words to hit a sour spot to make someone snap.
His friends even had teased him not to be friends with him for how he points out those kinds of weaknesses.
