Note: While the vast majority of these events have confirmed dates or years, not all have exact dates or years, just a vague "it happens within this timeframe" and I'll do my best to state whether these dates are confirmed or if I'm taking a wild guess about when a specific event takes place as well as stating what leans more into very minor headcanon in this colour, although these are fairly insignificant guesses and just my personal thoughts of when they could have taken place.

For now, the things referenced are from the manga with a very minor mention of things from the anime, but will be updated with light novel references once I'm able to finish reading them.

There's also the overall series timeline with confirmed dates as well as a helpful detailed spreadsheet made by someone compiling most information, for the whole series. However, it's not fully up to date, and it's unknown when or if it will be updated.

Timeline

Childhood

▶1994 - 2007◀
• Oikawa is born on 20th July 1994.
° Chapter N/A

• Oikawa enters kindergarten.
• Oikawa meets Iwaizumi. It is unknown when they met, but I personally place them meeting around ages 3 or 4.
• Oikawa enters elementary school.
• Oikawa becomes an uncle to Takeru. Takeru's age is not confirmed, so this is hard to pin down, but I place Takeru around age 7 or 8 during the main series.

• Oikawa and Iwaizumi attend a volleyball game between Japan and Argentina in elementary school, where Oikawa decides he wants to become a setter after seeing José Blanco help his team's ace get back on his feet.

Middle School

▶2007 - 2010◀
• Oikawa enters Kitagawa Daiichi middle school and joins the boys volleyball team alongside Iwaizumi.
• Oikawa becomes Captain of the Kitagawa Daiichi boys volleyball team.

• Oikawa and the team keep losing to Ushijima and Shiratorizawa, with Oikawa becoming bitter towards Ushijima and holding a grudge against the boy.
• Kageyama, a volleyball prodigy, enters Kitagawa Daiichi and joins the boys volleyball team, his skills showing that he would be a setter, which causes Oikawa to panic and begin overworking himself.
• Oikawa is subbed out of a practice match after missing multiple sets, being replaced by Kageyama. That same night, Kageyama asks Oikawa to teach him how to serve, which causes him to freak out and nearly strike him in a fit of anger had Iwaizumi not intervened.
• Iwaizumi tells Oikawa he needs to calm down, and Oikawa insists that he has no time to and that he needs to win and get to Nationals, which Iwaizumi headbutts him and tells him he can't do that on his own.
• Kageyama again approaches Oikawa to ask him for help, but Oikawa again refuses, but doesn't strike him this time.
• Kitagawa Daiichi loses its final match with Oikawa as its captain to Shiratorizawa, but finally manages to win a set. Oikawa also receives a Best Setter award after the match, as well as declaring to Kageyama that he'll beat him one day no matter what high school he ends up at. Oikawa and Iwaizumi also promise to beat Shiratorizawa once they're in high school.

• Oikawa enters Aoba Johsai private high school and joins the boys volleyball team alongside Iwaizumi, Matsukawa, and Hanamaki.

• Oikawa becomes Aoba Johsai's starting setter

• Oikawa stays up that night watching the match between Karasuno and Datekō, figuring out the combination between Kageyama and Hinata.

• Aoba Johsai vs Karasuno.
• Oikawa pulls a setter dump early in the match as well as shows off how aggressive of a player and setter he is, showing his threat level on the court.
• Oikawa calls for an early time-out to reveal what he'd figured out the night before about Kageyama and Hinata's combo.
• Iwaizumi points out the early time-out and Oikawa says it's fine because it'll get under Karasuno's skin, namely Kageyama's. Hanamaki and Matsukawa tease him about figuring out people's weaknesses.
• Oikawa states that while he's not as skilled as Kageyama at tosses and can't do them with pinpoint accuracy, he won't lose to him as a setter and is confident in his ability to give his team the absolute best tosses.
• Oikawa becomes distracted by thinking about defeating Ushijima, causing him to lose a few points for Aoba Johsai until Iwaizumi gets him to snap out of it.

• Aoba Johsai plays a practice match with a college team, with Oikawa being the setter on their side. He is able to easily toss to these members, having likely only just met them.
• Kyōtani is invited back to the Aoba Johsai team by Oikawa, and insults the third years who chose to remain. Oikawa, although angered by this, plays it off as a joke while telling Kyōtani he'll be grateful to play with him and the team; causing Kyōtani to become immediately defensive and wary of Oikawa.

• Spring Inter-High begins, Oikawa and Iwaizumi run into Hinata, and Oikawa taunts him.
• Oikawa and Iwaizumi also run into Ushijima, getting angry at the sight of him and declare they'll win against Shiratorizawa.

• MSBY Black Jackals vs Schweiden Adlers match, MSBY wins 3-1. While he is not shown watching this match, Oikawa claims to not have been watching Kageyama's matches but Hinata makes a mental comment in chapter 372 about how he and Kageyama are the same while calling Kageyama a liar, so it can be assumed he is as well as supporting a friend (Hinata).

• Oikawa naturalizes as an Argentinian citizen.
• Oikawa makes it onto the Argentine National Team and competes in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, facing off against Team Japan on the 12th day in August 2021. The match outcome is never confirmed, but a common agreement is that Argentina took gold and Japan took silver. I'll personally be going by this common agreement, however I can also adjust to what happened in the real world of Argentina winning bronze at those Olympics.

• Kuroo invites Oikawa to participate in the "Monster Generation" match. Reunions with friends, as well as Oikawa and Atsumu immediately getting off on the wrong foot, and Iwaizumi steps in to make them both behave.

PERSONALITY

Described as having a "disgusting personality" by opponents and teammates alike for his flippant, flirtatious, and childish attitude; Oikawa is someone who, if described in one word, would be "complicated".

As someone who had to work hard to get where he's at, Oikawa struggles with feelings of inferiority due to a rival in middle school that he deemed as naturally better than he was, causing him to feel threatened and become jealous; even while being skilled himself at the very same thing. He keeps these feelings to himself and rarely lashes out at others, although he does make the occasional snide remark during games to get under an opponent's skin. He is also shown giving advice to one of his rivals he feels inferior to, albeit after being petty about getting a picture as proof the other begged for his help, which shows that even with feeling inferior to others he's not unwilling to help someone improve on their skills.

Oikawa is ambitious and can have a one-track mind once he sets his mind to something, which can and has led him to getting injured from over-practicing. He's also incredibly intelligent and cunning, observing any game recordings of his rivals or even opponents his team are likely to face so that he can form strategies on how to defeat them. He's also able to easily figure out not only his opponents, but also his teammates' weaknesses, and has the skill to bring out the latter's strengths as well because of this. These skills plus his ambition make him ruthless towards his opponents in a match, doing anything within the rules to win.

However, despite wanting to be the best and do whatever is necessary to win, Oikawa is also fiercely loyal to those he cares for and won't abandon them just to further his own goal. This is evidenced when he threw aside an opportunity that would have given him the chance to excel further than he had, all because of the promise to his best friend that they'd do it together, even though they never did get as far as they'd wanted. To him, sacrificing that loyalty wouldn't have been worth it, and he never once regretted that decision; even when told he made the wrong choice, to which he stated he had no regrets about it.

Oikawa is often seen making cheerful remarks followed by serious and intimidating ones afterwards. His cheerful remarks and smiles are generally insincere, having been told by his best friend that his smile was genuine for once at an awards ceremony, with him barking back that he always gave genuine smiles. His own best friend has even stated that there was a time in Oikawa's life where he didn't smile.

Oikawa is also shown to be very caring and attentive towards others, namely towards his friends and his teammates by asking them how his tosses were or taking them out to get ramen after practices. He even is shown being excited and happy for having won an award in middle school, stating that he's never gotten one before so of course he's going to be happy about it.

He's shown to be sensitive as well, having started crying after thanking the rest of the third years on his team for the past three years together as their team captain after they lost their final shot to play at Nationals later that same night. However, this sensitivity isn't often shown in the form of him crying.

Oikawa is also prone to occasional bouts of childishness and rash behaviour, although this is most frequently seen around his best friend who he's grown up with or two of his rivals he feels inferior to and wishes to defeat. Other examples of his childishness is shown in the way he gives others nicknames, such as calling his best friend by "Iwa-chan" instead of the boy's full surname of Iwaizumi.

In conclusion:
While Oikawa is petty, childish, and makes rash decisions on occasion; he is also capable of being kind, caring, and capable of helping even those he dislikes or feels threatened by.

Appearance & Voice

Oikawa has dark brown hair that is swept outwards and eyes of the corresponding color. He is also 6' 1.2" (186cm) in height, tall for a Japanese man, but average height for a volleyball player. Many others find him attractive, to the point where several girls follow him around. Oikawa frequently smiles or grins, although these expressions are rarely genuine. He tends to make victory signs or large waving gestures, which are often accompanied by broad smiles or a wink. Another trademark expression of his is sticking out his tongue while smiling and winking. At one point he is shown wearing glasses, although it's unknown if he needs them or not. (I will be playing him with needing them).

Character Background

• History: BAM
• Core Relationships:

Hajime Iwaizumi - Oikawa's childhood best friend, as well as the man who kept him in line in various ways as the two grew up. Including but not limited to keeping his temper in check, preventing him from overworking himself to the point of career ending injury, as well as being a constant rock and reminder that Oikawa needed to have more faith in his abilities as a setter and to stop comparing himself to the likes of Kageyama. Iwaizumi helped shape Oikawa into the person he is as an adult, and Oikawa is able to easily rely on him due to this.

Shōyō Hinata - Although seen as a rival, coupled with Kageyama at first, Oikawa's attitude towards the man has changed over the years since their days in high school; coming to be good friends with him. Hinata is, in my opinion, a key core relationship due to later events in the series where the duo meet up and play a game of beach volleyball. During this, Oikawa is reminded yet again that the sport he loves more than anything is STILL fun, and when the two part ways he is shown referring to the other man by his given name, Shōyō, as well as happily embracing him in their reunion at the Olympics.

José Blanco - The very man who inspired Oikawa to become a setter in the first place, as well as the person who challenged Oikawa's insecurity over not being a "genius" when it came to volleyball. He is currently Oikawa's coach for the Argentina National Team, where he (Oikawa) plays as the starting setter.

Tobio Kageyama - Having met him in his final year of middle school, Oikawa quickly felt threatened by him due to his skill as a setter, the position Oikawa himself played. It caused him to grow insecure, petty, and hostile towards the younger boy; nearly striking him at one point had Iwaizumi not intervened, though regretted it instantly. All because Oikawa had been panicking in a practice match and subbed out for Kageyama, as well as the boy later asking him to teach him his jump serve. These feelings of insecurity stuck with him all through high school as well, frequently comparing and putting himself down when referring to Kageyama's skill with things such as stating that while better at everything else, he's no match for the boy's setting abilities. Even ten years later, Oikawa still holds a feeling of rivalry towards the other man, but his temper and doubts are much more under control compared to his school years.

Wakatoshi Ushijima - In both middle and high school, Ushijima was a bitter rival of Oikawa's, having never been able to defeat either him or his school in matches. Because of this, Oikawa held a petty grudge towards the other man, and didn't let go of it even after his final game in high school. It is currently unknown what his thoughts are on Ushijima, although it can be easily assumed that he still holds some level of rivalry towards Ushijima ten years later with both of them being on the professional, and Olympic, levels.

As someone who had to work hard to get where he's at, Oikawa struggles with feelings of inferiority due to a rival in middle school that he deemed as naturally better than he was, causing him to feel threatened and become jealous; even while being skilled himself at the very same thing. He keeps these feelings to himself and rarely lashes out at others, although he does make the occasional snide remark during games to get under an opponent's skin. He is also shown giving advice to one of his rivals he feels inferior to, albeit after being petty about getting a picture as proof the other begged for his help, which shows that even with feeling inferior to others he's not unwilling to help someone improve on their skills.

Oikawa is ambitious and can have a one-track mind once he sets his mind to something, which can and has led him to getting injured from over-practicing. He's also incredibly intelligent and cunning, observing any game recordings of his rivals or even opponents his team are likely to face so that he can form strategies on how to defeat them. He's also able to easily figure out not only his opponents, but also his teammates' weaknesses, and has the skill to bring out the latter's strengths as well because of this. These skills plus his ambition make him ruthless towards his opponents in a match, doing anything within the rules to win.

However, despite wanting to be the best and do whatever is necessary to win, Oikawa is also fiercely loyal to those he cares for and won't abandon them just to further his own goal. This is evidenced when he threw aside an opportunity that would have given him the chance to excel further than he had, all because of the promise to his best friend that they'd do it together, even though they never did get as far as they'd wanted. To him, sacrificing that loyalty wouldn't have been worth it, and he never once regretted that decision; even when told he made the wrong choice, to which he stated he had no regrets about it.

Oikawa is often seen making cheerful remarks followed by serious and intimidating ones afterwards. His cheerful remarks and smiles are generally insincere, having been told by his best friend that his smile was genuine for once at an awards ceremony, with him barking back that he always gave genuine smiles. His own best friend has even stated that there was a time in Oikawa's life where he didn't smile.

Oikawa is also shown to be very caring and attentive towards others, namely towards his friends and his teammates by asking them how his tosses were or taking them out to get ramen after practices. He even is shown being excited and happy for having won an award in middle school, stating that he's never gotten one before so of course he's going to be happy about it.

He's shown to be sensitive as well, having started crying after thanking the rest of the third years on his team for the past three years together as their team captain after they lost their final shot to play at Nationals later that same night. However, this sensitivity isn't often shown in the form of him crying.

Oikawa is also prone to occasional bouts of childishness and rash behaviour, although this is most frequently seen around his best friend who he's grown up with or two of his rivals he feels inferior to and wishes to defeat. Other examples of his childishness is shown in the way he gives others nicknames, such as calling his best friend by "Iwa-chan" instead of the boy's full surname of Iwaizumi.

In conclusion:
While Oikawa is petty, childish, and makes rash decisions on occasion; he is also capable of being kind, caring, and capable of helping even those he dislikes or feels threatened by.

[Pissed. Tooru is pissed that he, out of all the available people his age, is the one chose to be some "dragon's bride" or whatever the fancy wording for a sacrifice was. He's pissed because it's been women in the past, but this time it was him chosen. A man. The village leader's son. It's an outrage but he suspects that they want him gone after catching him having a bored fling with another man and caught in a compromising position, submitting instead of being the dominant one that time. Of all the times and luck, it was while he was taking it up the ass and not giving it to someone. Not to mention, loudly enjoying it.

But that's irrelevant now, he thinks, as he's now tied to a post in some forest clearing with gifts laid at his feet and rich clothing he's never worn besides the necklace he's had since birth and forbidden to take off. The outfit he's wearing is embarrassing, it's long enough to cover his knees but did anyone let him have anything underneath it? Heavens no, he was a married off sacrifice now. Humiliating. He just glares into the clearing, wanting this sacrifice business over with and to be eaten like he's heard the rumours of. At least he'll be keeping friends in the village safe, even if it means no escape for him. Childhood friends will be safe, that's what matters now.]

Just come out and devour me already, I know how this works. You eat the sacrifice but claim to take her, or him in my unfortunate case, as a bride or whatever fancy title you excuse eating others as.

[It had been about four and a half years since Tooru had returned to that painful place, but he'd been there for a reason this time despite having not wanted to return. Not when that place held a painful memory, being the day he'd "died" to almost everyone he'd known. A small handful of people he did know, apparently, had been werewolves as well. Some born, some turned, and a couple of them just aware of the supernatural from young ages and were just human themselves. Even some of his friends, at that, but they'd helped him adjust at the very least. He knew he couldn't ever face Iwaizumi again, so he'd left Japan as soon as he was able to. It hurt at first, and there were times he wanted to turn back and fling himself at the person he loved dearly, but Tooru learned to deal with the heartache until it became a dull throb in his mind that he could ignore most days.

Until that dawn when he was sniffing out a trail of a teenager who recently had been turned and Tooru came upon the last person he wanted to be faced with.

The figure was unmistakable, and Tooru remembered that smell even 5 years later. It was him, it was his Hajime. Panic washed over him, and the only things in Tooru's favour among the trees was that he was in wolf form, and that he was fortunately approaching from behind. Everything else was terrible, especially with the wind blowing towards where he was going. In an instant, Tooru took off, breaking twigs beneath his feet and to the worst of his luck he got caught in a trap.

This was bad, he didn't want to face him after all these years. Not like this, not like what he'd become. His heart felt ripped open all over again, impossible to stitch back together. 24 years old feeling like 19 and waking up in his own blood all over again and restrained by familiar faces that knew him and what he was thinking.]

[Gold. His team really did it, they medaled, and Tooru could not be happier that they made it, it all felt like a dream. Even if he's now an Argentinian citizen, he's still also proud he got to do that in the country he was born in. The thrill of playing on an Olympic level and achieving his goals has him at his happiest he's ever been and the stupid smile on his face says it all as he looks at his phone.

His friends and family are proud of him, evidenced by his phone blowing up with congratulatory messages, even if some are teasing that he should have been with Japan to get them that far.

It's on a walk for fresh air that Tooru spots a familiar face, one he'd been insanely jealous of and felt inferior to back in high school. Though now he's got those feelings of inferiority under control, and the win against team Japan that had Kageyama and Ushijima had him in high spirits, so he swallows his petty pride to stride over with a smile.]

[To most, Prince Tooru was just a flirtatious and sometimes childish prince who loved to wear plenty of jewelry that matched his clothes, which were the colours of his country; white with varying shades of teal and blue. But to those that knew the truth, the real truth, those pieces of jewelry kept back a secret that would have the people turning on him in an instant:

It hid the fact that he's not even human, not even the biological son of the king and queen, but a lookalike of their son that died as a baby and took Tooru in when he was still a baby. But they loved him as their son all the same and he them, grateful for their care and acceptance even though he's a Siren.

But what he's not grateful about is being made to sit through various things regarding his twentieth birthday celebration that's nearing in the summer. And he makes sure his best friend knows it too once one of those meetings to plan it out are done, who just so happens to be his personal guard as well.]

[Tooru hates just how he got caught by Hajime during the match, feeling sorry for himself and sitting how he had been, all while saying he couldn't just sit around feeling that. Truthfully, he was pissed about Seijoh having lost to Karasuno. More than he'd cared to let on. They had the best team that year, but the freak duo of Tobio and Hinata got the better of them. Even with that perfect set to Hajime and him crashing after it, which still has him sore.

The worst thing is how his heart raced, both startled and how he feels when just being around him, but there's no way Hajime is into him, not like how Tooru feels about him.
